Hanging Vegetable Garden Ideas – How to Have Vegetables All Year Long

Posted on January 20, 2022 In Home Gardening

Are you tired of over-priced, pesticide-laden, chemically treated indoor vegetables? Do you’d like to grow your own vegetables and eat pure, organic food? If yes, then making a hanging vegetable garden would help you accomplish it.

A hanging vegetable garden idea is the most practical way of growing your very own vegetables. Aside from its practicality, it is also the most convenient way to cultivate your produce. It does not require too much space. Moreover, there are plenty of hanging vegetable garden ideas to choose from. These ideas could be utilized regardless of whether you have small or large backyard.

One of hanging vegetable garden ideas that work well for most people is to plant vegetables that will grow fast and big. This means that you should plant vegetables that can produce more seeds in a shorter time. These plants should also be those that can withstand high amount of water and heat. Some of the seeds that you should consider for these plants are cress, lettuce, broccoli, romaine lettuce, and kale. The plants mentioned earlier can thrive in small spaces because they do not need a lot of space.

After you have planted your crops, you need to make sure that they get enough and ample amount of sunlight and space for growth. You can provide artificial lights at various places in your garden to ensure adequate sunlight and temperature for your plants. Another important thing to remember is that you should use organic garden soil when planting your vegetables. This type of garden soil contains nutrients that would make your plants grow faster and healthier. Organic garden soil is much healthier than artificial garden soil which is made up of chemical fertilizers.

There are other types of vegetable plants that can also do well in small spaces. Cucumbers, peppers, strawberries, broccoli, green beans, carrots, peas, and beans are just a few of these plants that can do well in small gardens. Since you only need to plant a limited number of plants, you can do this at your home or you can place them on a patio or garden. For example, if you live in a condominium unit, you can place tomatoes in a pot under the mango tree. If you live in a townhouse, you can place lettuce under the potted plants that are provided by your neighbors.

Pots are also another great way to plant your veggies. However, this is not advisable in areas with extreme temperatures. If you want to have your veggies get the right kind of nutrition, you should place them in pots. Also, putting your plants in pots would be a great way to save money because there’s no need to do any tilling of the soil.

During the growing season, you should water your plants. However, you should do so moderately. During the summer season, you should give your plants a good watering especially if they are not planted yet. You should water them every other day during the growing season and then you can do so in a more regular manner in the fall. This is because when it comes to the watering, you should consider the type of plant that you have.

Aside from the different vegetable garden ideas, you can also try out other ideas like planting fruits and vegetables in containers. Tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, and cucumbers can all be planted in containers. This is a good idea since the plants will grow taller and they won’t get much of the sunlight that they normally get in a garden. However, you should remember to put a good amount of organic fertilizer in the containers so that you can give them the proper amount of nutrition. If you don’t want to do this, you can also purchase seeds from a local store or order them online. It is important to be able to take good care of the crops that you produce, no matter how small they are.
